All the hottest male models and some of Hollywood’s finest (and even some rock stars) have six perfect ripples right above their belly button. You know what it is, and you want it, because no red-blooded male in his right mind wouldn’t want that “chick magnet” label. You’re going to do whatever it takes to get a six pack!

Sit-ups – a whole lot of grueling sit-ups – this is what most people believe would be the best and most traditional way to get a six pack. No, this is not the key to those “hip hop abs”, although they do contribute in making the upper abs stronger and better toned. And here’s why – a layer of fat covers up your ab muscles. If you want people to see those abs, then you must work to remove the fat that covers them up. And there is no better way to do this than with cardio – riding a bike, using a stair-stepper, running or jogging.

You might want to start out by jogging constantly for about 15 minutes a day your first week. Increase the time by 5 minutes every week. If you think you can go longer or harder, do it. Avoid foods that are rich in cholesterol and/or sugar and beverages such as soda pop, because they will only disguise the efforts you have exerted thus far.

This would probably be the best time to start integrating some sit-ups, once you’ve got the cardio down pat. Get in a routine of doing sit-ups as soon as you wake up and right before you go to bed. Start modestly, perhaps 50 every morning and evening, and increase that number as you go along. If your muscles are sore, that’s great; you’re doing your job. It might please you to know that your abs and calf muscles are the only muscles that would not require you to rest them occasionally or risk damage.

Stick with the routine and you will see results in 1 or 2 months. Coupled with a strict diet, you can build your six-pack just in time for summer!
